How we came to be

The first meeting of the Chestnut Hill Community Association was on October 23, 1950. The meeting was called to order at the home of Hilding Wickstrom, who went on to become the first President of the organization. Our organization, originally called the "Chestnut Hill Community Club", was founded as a non-profit organization with the purpose of improving the recreational facilities of the organizational group and good will among a group of neighbors.The first meeting had 17 attendees - all men - where they elected the first President, Secretary, and Treasurer for a one-year term.Dues were 50 cents per month, and meetings were conducted on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The very first event was one week after the first meeting - a Halloween Costume Dance on October 30th, 1950.

Our guiding charter

According to our original charter document, the purpose of our organization is the following:• To foster and cultivate the social, educational, and business relations of the members; to broad their interests in pursuit of their occupations and professions; and to improve their standards of efficiency and productivity.• To encourage among members closer personal acquaintance and a friendly spirit of mutual cooperation.• To gather, receive, and disseminate such information as may seem helpful to the members; to interchange ideas in rending mutual assistance and to provide helpful vocational advice and guidance.• To forward and promote the general welfare and prosperity of the members and improve by any and all lawful and honorable means their status and condition.• To assist in any other matters pertaining to the welfare and advance of the members and for the attainment of the highest order of American citizenship.

Our role in the community

The CHCA runs on the motto, "people helping people". We care deeply about supporting others in the Chestnut Hill, Millville, and surrounding communities. We work to maintain our facility at 385 Chestnut Hill Road, which is used by community organizations and available for private events. We also work to support our neighbors in need, frequently collecting for the local food pantry and administering a scholarship program in memory of one of our former members. We try to collaborate with other local organizations like the Garden Club to host educational events for the community. Finally, we frequently host small events like monthly "Coffee and Community" events and pot lucks to bring locals together to socialize and spend time together!

Rent our space for your event!

Our hall, located at 385 Chestnut Hill Road, is available for rentals! Rent for just a few hours, or even a few days. We have ample parking available.Amenities include a full kitchen, lots of tables and folding chairs, and free Wi-Fi.Our fee is only $150 per day to rent the entire facility.Reach out to our rental coordinator, Kathy Ouelette, by calling (508) 883-4265 or (508) 962-6982 to inquire.
